Based off Alice‘s suggestion, I’ve added a few new tags to Xanga Skins:
- <$Signin_Link$> – Returns the link to the signin page.
- <$Signout_Link$> – Returns the link to the signout page.
Those two are pretty simple, the next two tags give greater power to your site, allowing you to emulate the header taglines on regular Xanga sites (ie the “xanga – join – signin” links at the top right of each Xanga site, which change based on whether the user is logged in or not):
- <$Signin_Tagline$> – If the user visiting your site is signed in, this tag displays a text link labeled “signout”; otherwise it displays a link labeled “signin”.
- <$Private_Site_Tagline$> – If the user visiting your site is signed in, this displays a link to their private site, with their username as the link text. Otherwise it displays a “join” link.
Based on these tags, this is how you’d emulate the Xanga header taglines:
<A HREF="http://www.xanga.com">xanga</A> – <$Private_Site_Tagline$> – <$Signin_Tagline$>

How about a tag to get all the stuff at the bottom of a page? the xanga – sign in – join yada yada yada?

Here’s a question, how about the Xanga coding for the basic Xanga layout, I know that I want to keep almost the same layout, but would prefer to change a few things here, and css it up quite a bit, any ideas?

Yea, i’m jaykue on this one. i’d love to have the code for the basic Xanga layouts, b/c most of them are pretty spiffy, but they could use some tune-ups and such. so get us the code for’em! (btw, thanx in advance, =) )

how or where do you get skins from? i only know of a few….but where can you get all of the skins from?
does anyone check here?
the skin does not work with review and event part of xanga, ie if you click on a date in calendar while in those 2 section, it goes all weird
another problem is i put some js stuff in my skin, but when it loaded, none of the script showed up x.X cant even use js counter
the other thing is.. i think prev link should old to older entry while next go to newer entrys, the opposite of what it does now
It would be nice if the new coding worked with personal urls. The cookie that keeps you logged in is only for xanga.com, so it won’t work with me. Just great.
Does anybody know how to include the sitemeter.com code within the skin? I’ve tried to copy and paste it to no success.
can you make java script work in skin? it didnt work last time i tried it… after pasteing the html for the skin in, and you hit preview or save, it deletes all the script stuff (if you try to look at that source)
the other thing is.. review and event page dont work well with skin, i mean if you click on the calender while in those section, it get all screwed up
How can you change the eprops and comments links under each weblog to other words, as i have seen done by other xanga members? I would like to change them to something like tears and pains but i have no clue how…i have asked the people who have changed them to like kisses and huggs but i have not gotten an answer. any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I don’t get all of this… what’s a “tag”? and whats it have to do with one’s site? All i wanna know is how to make my own skin or use someone elses and make it my own by editing it….that will do me alot….PLEASE HELP ME!!!
