  • As John mentions, we’ve added a few more javascript counters to the approved list.  These include: Sitemeter, OKCounter, Bravenet, Netstat, Web Site Traffic Report, Hosted Scripts, YESCounter, and Jippy.  Let us know if you find any issues with these scripts, or if there are other scripts you’d like to see available in your Xanga Skin.

  • Hey, I am having the same problem as linds1281…my skin looks great, but clicking on the eprops sends it back to the original page.  How do I fix that??  Also, my private site stills looks the same, old way.

  • I don’t know where to direct this question to, but I just subscribed to xanga (as in, I paid for it.) And I read through the skins tutorial and everthing, but I just don’t understand where I’m supposed to put the code for that skin at. I want to use the one silly_stacey made, and I saved it and all, and it gives me a link to view my new public profile, but when I go to where I would normally view my site at, it shows me the old skin. My friends and stuff have the regular address to view my journal, but not the link I was given to view the new skin on my journal. Is there something I am missing here?   • One thing I’d like to see is more in depth explanation of the CSS tags. It says on the page w/ all the tags that it will be expanded w/ more feedback, but I havent seen anymore expansion. For example, I would LOVE to know how to change the taglines for comments and eprops to say something else. All I know is that the tag “taglines” controls it but I dont know how to change it

  • Wow… Those are a lot of questions. I kinda feel bad adding my own on top of it, and I’m not even sure how often all of these comments get read and responded to. Any how.

    Last night I randomly decided to dig myself into Xanga skins because I wanted simply to re-arrange the different modules. While doing so, I got the urge to make some fancier skins. However, I wanted to see if there are easier ways of doing things without a lot of extra HTML coding. I know I read some of these questions in the past few hundred comments, but I’m still asking some because I’m not sure how they are responded to.

    1) Is there (or will there be) a tagline to call upon your custom module’s code?

    2) Are there taglines to call upon the various settings of your “Look and Feel” page? I was hoping that there would be a tagline to import all of that, because all of the extra HTML required is a bit anoying and complicated at times. Not to mention it would make it a heck of a lot simpler to change the colors of your site without having to modify your skin coding.

    Huh… That’s actually all I had to ask. I thought I had more. (I sat here for a good ten minutes trying to remember some.) Well, hopefully you can give me some insite to these questions. Like I said, I just started with skin editing last night so I don’t know a whole lot of the details. Thanks in advance.

  • What the heck is with this when I made my own skin without going through all of this trouble! I used the tutorial skin and modifed it and it came out simple but cool. It wasn’t overpowering! My skin has a colored scrollbar and panda cursor. If you want it just vist my xanga and you can see my other skin on my other xanga called ilovetstefanhansen.   • Sure xanga skins shows you the basics and stuff but it doens’t show you how to get a picture as your header or how to get pictures in the background or anything. Not that I saw. Comment back on my site to let me know if there’s somewhere I can learn how to do that or if you could teach me or if I’ll have to continue to use other people’s made layouts. Also I don’t understand what all the other markup is. I understand the hex codes for colors and how to get the font but not where to put it to show what kind of font you want. Thanks!

    okay how bout this…..premium users can use upload their own skins(and through the upload the tags like will be changed), and they can also use a userfriendly basic “frame” that they can color and change the images on without knowing html……there would be about 5-10 of these “skinframes” that would all have places to change the color, places to set images and places to change text, all with the skinframe editor

    then classic users would get all the features of skins premium users have now!!!!!!!!

  • WOW there’s nothing going on with skins.  i know ya’ll are busy && such, but a couple of years of skineglect is sad.  i don’t know much about anything when it comes to designing stuff, so it’d be nice if you had a “skins for dummies” sort of thing.  telling me to “just put the code where you want your module” doesn’t work for persons like me – i have put my little text code in 8 million places, && it’s never “where i want it” to be.  it’d be really cool if there were some sort of visual editor – like a drag&drop sort of thing.  where i just randomly jumble everything up text-wise, preview it, && drag my modules and stuff around, resize them to how i want them, pop them into other boxes, or out of — okay, well maybe that’s all way too complicated.  but if there were a way that a code-illiterate could figure out what to do without having to take 72 hours to read a gajillion tutorials to effectively create a personal skin, that’d be pretty spiffy.
